Goodreads 2012 Reading Challenge Finished

Goodreads 2012 Reading Challenge.

This has been a brilliant way to follow my reading. I like that I can add the book when I start it, update as many times as I need to during my reading and that the books automatically go to my read list when I mark them finished.
My personal goal for this challenge was to read 110 books in 2012. My book number 110 was  A Reckless Witch by Debora Geary that I finished on the 26th of October. I have read all in all 146 for this challenge.

All my Posts can be found HERE.
This is where the list of books can be found

2012 Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge Finished

Thank you Melissa for hosting this challenge.

I have so enjoyed this challenge as I really like witchy books. My goal for this challenge was to read 11-15 books but I reached that goal already after a few months. I then decided to go for the highest level of 16-20 books but I also reached that goal with no problem.
I finished book number 20: The Calling by Kelley Armstrong on the 10th of August.
I read 41 books for this challenge.

All my posts are HERE.

Why Buy the Cow? Reading Challenge 2012 Finished

Thank you Missie from The Unread Reader for hosting.

This has been a fun challenge and I think I now have tons of free books on my Kindle. Several times a week my husband will say "You have bought more books" and yes I have but the great thing is they were mostly free. I check Books on The Knob nearly every day.
Most of my free books are from Amazon but I also got a lot from Smashwords.
As expected there are a lot of books which are not great but there are also a lot of free books that have made me pay for and read more books from some of the authors.

My goal was to read 12 books for this challenge and that goal I reached with Awakening by Karice Bolton on the 31st of July. At the end of December I have now read 28 books.

My Posts are HERE
THIS is the list of the 28 books I have read.

2012 Ebook Challenge Finished

Thank you Sarah from workadayreads for this reading challenge.

This has been a brilliant challenge for me as I live in a place where it is not that easy to buy books in book stores. Up till end of June I lived in a place completely without a book store and only an extremely tiny library with erratic or non existent opening hours. Now, since the end of August, I live in a place with a small book store and a big library. I have had some kind of ebook reader since 2008 and absolutely love it.

My goal for this challenge was to reach the level of Server - read 100 ebooks.
I reached this goal on the 26th of October with the book Reckless Witch. I have read 134 books for this challenge.

All the posts for this challenge are HERE.
THIS is the list for all the books I have read for this challenge.

Here are all the posts for this challenge.
THIS is the list of books I read for the challenge.

2012 Sci-Fi Challenge - Finished

Thank you Ellie @ Curiosity Killed The Bookworm for hosting this challenge.

This has been a really interesting challenge for me. One of the objects of the challenge was to read outside one's comfort zone and I chose to read one book a month. I can definitely say I have done that. My husband has helped me find books for this challenge.

I have completed the challenge. I have read 12 books, one book a month and it was books that I wouldn't ordinarily have picked.
It surprised me that I didn't think much of Ursula Le Guin's Sci-Fi as I really like her fantasy books.
Of the 12 books of this challenge I have given 1 book 5 Polar Bears, 6 books 4 Polar Bears and 5 books 3 Polar Bears.
3 Polar Bears means it was okay and I liked it but not always enough to seek out more books from that particular author.
I think I read quite a bit more Sci-Fi than the 12 books for this challenge but not all Sci-Fi is outside my comfort zone so I chose just one book a month that had to be that. It has been quite interesting that I have liked as many of these books as I have.

My 12 books for this challenge are:
  1. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
  2. For Love of Mother-not by Alan Dean Foster
  3. A Fisherman of the Inland Sea by Ursula Le Guin
  4. Neuromancer by William Gibson
  5. The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
  6. The Stars my Destination by Alfred Bester
  7. The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi
  8. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
  9. The Shockwave Rider by John Brunner
  10. I am Legend by Richard Matheson
  11. Zoo City by Lauren Beukes
  12. Old Man's War by John Scalzi

Thankfully Reading Weekend 2012 November 22-25 Finished

Thanks to Jenn from jennsbookshelves for hosting this challenge.

I have now finished this challenge. I reached my goal of reading 3 books but not everything went according to plan. In my update I mentioned that I wanted to finish my third book on Saturday and hopefully start Monsters of Men on Sunday.
I did finish Changes by Jim Butcher on Saturday or rather I guess it was Sunday as it was about 1am. But I haven't read anything today.
I liked all three books I read this weekend but mostly Changes by Jim Butcher.

This is the three books I read and which challenges they counted towards:
  1. Zoo City by Lauren Beukes toward 2012 Sci-Fi Challenge and A-Z Book Challenge 2012.
  2. Y by Bonnie Rozanski toward A-Z Book Challenge 2012.
  3. Changes by Jim Butcher toward Finishing the Series.
This weekend has helped me quite well towards finishing my challenges for 2012.

Reading Challenge Addict 2012 Finished

Thank you Cheryl and Gina at readingchallengeaddict for hosting this challenge.

When I started this challenge I decided to go for the level of "On the Roof" 6-10 Challenges (Entered & Completed) as I have never taken part in any reading challenges before Dewey's Read-a-Thon October 2011.
Well, I got hooked and I ended up entered 24 Challenges and of these I finished 22.
So I guess I have now reached level "Out of This World" 16+ Challenges (Entered & Completed)

THIS is the list of all the challenges I have completed in 2012
HERE are all the posts for this challenge.

A-Z Book Challenge 2012 Finished

Thank you Laurel-Rain Snow at curlupandread for hosting this challenge.

This was an interesting challenge and I decided to add the three letters æ-ø-Ä from my own language (Danish) to the challenge.
It has not been an easy challenge but it has been fun to try and find the last letters that were missing, I am guessing that x and y are some of the more difficult letters to find. I will also admit that finding books with æ-ø-Ä was also pretty difficult but I did manage to find books from my local library.
This is definitely a challenge I would like to join again in 2013.

THIS is the list of the 29+ books I have read for this challenge.
HERE  is all the posts for this challenge.

2012 Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge Finished

Thank you Jennifer at Reading with Tequila for hosting this challenge.

One of the rules of the challenge was: Rereads do not count towards the completion of the challenge. The challenge is about discovering books that are new to you.

There were a few books on the list that I had already read. Such as:  The Harry Potter Books, The name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, Dibs in Search of Self by Virgina M. Axline, Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher and more. But I still had no trouble finding enough other books to set myself a goal.

My goal for this challenge was to reach level III - Read 15 books from the 2011 Book Blogger Recommendation List.
I have reached this goal the 21st of November after reading Delirium by Lauren Oliver.

I have discovered several new authors through this challenge and will continue to read their books.

THIS is the list of the 15 books I have read for this challenge.
HERE is all the posts for this challenge.

Dewey's Read-a-Thon October 13th 2012 wrap up post

My goal for this Read-a-Thon was to take part the whole 24 hours and read at least 3 books.
Another goal was to visit at least two other blogs every hour of the Read-a-Thon

I reached my goals.

I lasted the whole 24 hours. Of course I had a few times I was struggling, around 12 hours and again around hour 21 and 22. I got through without falling asleep.

I did visit over 50 blogs over the 24 hours and even left a comment on a couple of them. This I will change again next read-a-thon as I felt it took a lot of time away from my reading and that is my main purpose of taking part in the read-a-thon.

I read 3½ books all in all.
  1. Forgiven by Jana Oliver - 417 pages
  2. Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne - 192 pages
  3. White Night by Jim Butcher - 481 pages
  4. Xoe: or Vampires, and Werewolves, and Demons, Oh My! by Sara C. Roethle - 75 pages (the book is 150 pages but I only got to 50 % before the end of the read-a-thon. I have now finished the book)

This Read-a-Thon has given me a good start to my October reads and hopefully gotten me out of my reading slump.
Thank you Michelle@thetruebookaddict for hosting this Read-a-Thon on your seasonsreading blog.

The books I read this week were:
  1. Øjne i Mørket (The Eyes Of Darkness) by Dean Koontz
  2. Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher

Spring Into Horror Read-a-Thon Finished

Spring Into Horror Read-a-Thon Wrap-up.

I accomplished my goal for this week. My goal was to read at least 6 books and 4 of those had to be from the horror genre.

I did read 6 books and 5 of them were horror books, the last was a fantasy book.

1. Cursed by Jeremy Shipp
2. The Howling by gary Brandner
3. Indigo by Ophelia Keys
4. Turner by Karl Drinkwater
5. Ivory by Steve Merrifield
6. The Green King by Stepanie Parker

It was an interesting week, reading a genre I don't usually read. Cursed and Turner impressed me and I might look at those authors again in the future. But I am not completely taken by this part of the genre I will return to the my currently favourite genres of fantasy and paranormal.
