Dewey's Read-a-Thon 2013 - Finished

Dewey's Read-a-Thon has finished.

My goal was to read 750 pages. I went well past this with  1057 pages read and I was awake the whole 24 hours of the Read-a-Thon.

I read 4 books, all from my list:

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis (399 pages)
Swordfights & Lullabies by Debora Geary (90 pages)
Endlessly by Kiersten White (385 pages)
Every Witch Way But Wicked (183 pages)

Actually the beginning of the Read-a-Thon as I was reading a book I didn't like

2) Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
The series A Modern Witch by Debora Geary as they are cosy, light and fun to read.

3) Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
No, I think you have done a great job this year again

4) What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
I liked that you gave us the date quite early. I work every second weekend and the sooner I know the date the better to arrange to be off work.

If I am not working I will participate again. I will be a reader

Every Witch Way But Wicked by Wren Emerson and more

Take twelve paranormal authors. Toss them together in one anthology. Add a dash of romance, a pinch of humor and a dollop of mystery. Stir in a few ghosts, a handful of sorcerers and garnish with magic for the perfect witch's brew.  From Goodreads.

I enjoyed this book of different witchy short stories. I bought it because Debora Geary is one of the authors. Most of the stories were good.

Dewey's Read-a-Thon 2013 hour 21

I have enjoyed these last hours. Reading Swordfights & Lullabies by Debora Geary and Endlessly by Kiersten White was a much better choice than American Psycho.

I will now read Every Witch Way But Wicked and if I have more time after that I have another 2 short stories I can finish off with.

I read the first 2 books in this trilogy last April, actually the second book Supernaturally I read during Dewey's Read-a-Thon April 2012 so it is quite nice to read the last book this year.
I liked the 2 first books better but this was a good ending to the story. I will most likely read more books by Kiersten White.

Dewey's Read-a-Thon 2013 hour 18

Fighting off sleep. I always find it difficult when the person with me, this time my twin sister, is fast asleep.

But I am doing okay on the reading. Since finally finishing American Psycho I have read Swordfights & Lullabies (A Modern Witch #6.5) by Debora Geary (90 pages) and I am 275 pages (of 385 pages) into Endlessly by Kiersten White.

1) How are you doing? Sleepy? Are your eyes tired? 
I am actually doing surprisingly well and not tired yet.

2) What have you finished reading? 
American Psycho

3) What is your favorite read so far? 
I have only read American Psycho and that is NOT going to be my favourite read.

4) What about your favorite snacks? 
Actually dinner was pretty good even though it was mostly leftovers, but then anything I don't have to cook is usually good.

5) Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love! 
I have been struggling with my book and just wanted to finish it so I have not had time to look. 

Dewey's Read-a-Thon 2013 hour 12

I have finally finished American Psycho but I only finished it because I always finish the books I start. A boring book!.

I think I will read a short story now and then continue with The Rising by Kelley Armstrong or Endlessly by Kiersten White

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

In American Psycho, Bret Easton Ellis imaginatively explores the incomprehensible depths of madness and captures the insanity of violence in our time or any other. Patrick Bateman moves among the young and trendy in 1980s Manhattan. Young, handsome, and well educated, Bateman earns his fortune on Wall Street by day while spending his nights in ways we cannot begin to fathom. Expressing his true self through torture and murder, Bateman prefigures an apocalyptic horror that no society could bear to confront. From Goodreads.

I didn't like this book and found it extremely boring. Half the book is a description of clothes the main character and everybody else he is with are wearing. "Price is wearing a six-button wool and silk suit by Ermenegildo Zegna, a cotton shirt with French cuffs by Ike Behar, a Ralph Lauren silk tie and leather wing tips by Fratelli Rossetti." And so it continues throughout the book. There is also a detailed account of 3-4 different song artist's songs - also boring even though I actually like the singers / groups.
Yes there is also the very detailed account of the torture and murders he commits but that is just plain gory.

I am reading American Psycho as planned, unfortunately up till now, which is around page 130, I find it slightly boring. I hope it gets better.

In my part of the world it is 6pm so my sister is going to cook for us soon, some proper food will be appreciated after all the snacks we have already consumed.

Now back to the reading.

I am on holiday so this time I read from Denmark.

I think I am looking most forward to The Rising by Kelley Armstrong.

I have so many but I think it will be the icecream.

Dewey's Read-a-Thon October 2011 is what started my blog and me taking part in lots and lots of other reading challenges.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
The last Read-a-Thon I looked at a lot of other blogs and felt I missed out on a lot of reading time so more reading books this time and less time following everybody else.

Dewey's Read-a-Thon 2013

Dewey's Read-a-Thon is about to start and it is my fourth time taking part.

My goal this time will be to read at least 750 pages.

I have a list of books but I might stray from it.

American Psycho (399 pages). I need this book for two other Reading Challenges I am taking part in. If I read this book it will either be first or last as I don't think it is a good idea to read it during the night!

Every Witch Way But Wicked (183 pages). I am hoping for a fun, light read. I might need it after American Psycho.

Endlessly (385 pages) I started this series at Dewey's Read-a-Thon April 2012.

The Rising (400 pages). Kelly Armstrong is one of my favourite authors and I want to finish this series.

3 short stories from Debora Geary to be read in between the other books.
