Read Your Age hosted by Goodreads Crazy Challenge Connection.
We recently discovered that the CCC will celebrate it's 3rd birthday on
December 20 of this year. Happy birthday to us! Naturally, we wanted to
do a reading challenge in honor of the group's birthday, and this is
what we came up with :)
I’ve seen variations of this challenge
in several other groups online and have been trying to figure out how to
make it work for our group. Since we have such a wide range of ages
here, the original challenge format would be MUCH more challenging for
us oldsters than for the young ‘uns in the group, so we’ve been playing
around with different options.READ YOUR AGE CHALLENGE, begins December 20
DURATION: depends on the option chosen
For all options, be sure to tell us the year each book was originally published!
OPTION 1:
The original challenge, as seen elsewhere on GR: Read one book
originally published in every year since the year you were born,
starting with your birth year. There's no deadline for this, unless it’s
a self-imposed deadline.
OPTION 2: Read one book originally published in each decade since you were born.
Deadline: TWO MONTHS FROM START DATE.
OPTION 3:Read
one book originally published in each decade from the year you were
born until the year 2000, then read one book published in every year
from 2000 till the current year.
Deadline: SIX MONTHS FROM START DATE.
OPTION 4: Read books from whatever other combination of decades/years you can come up with.
Set your own deadline, allowing one month for every 5-6 books.
CHALLENGE RULES:
:
♦ When you sign up for the challenge, be sure to tell us which option you've chosen.
If you choose Option 4, tell us what you've come up with as an
alternative. This gives us a post to link you to, which you can use to
update your books as the challenge progresses.
♦ Books must be
at least 150 pages long, and may only be used for one task in this
challenge, but cross-challenge posting is encouraged :) Re-reads are
allowed, as long as you read the entire book and not simply skim through
it.
♦ Remember that you must read more than 50% of the book after the challenge begins in order to count it for the challenge.
♦ For each book you read, please post a link to the title, and indicate the author and the date you finished reading it. If you don’t, you won’t get credit for completing that year.
* If you don’t know how to post a link to the book title, see the instructions here:
Add a link to the book title
♦ When you complete the challenge, please post your entire list as a new message
to make it easier for everyone to see what you’ve read :) If you do
this while you still have the Edit window open, it will copy all of your
formatting, etc. too. If you don’t repost your list, your name will not
be added to the list of those who have completed the challenge.
I will take part in this and my goal will be OPTION 1: Read one book
originally published in every year since the year you were born,
starting with your birth year. There's no deadline for this, unless it’s
a self-imposed deadline. I will add books I have read since 20th of December.
