A Million More Pages - Hogwarts: Butterbeer Recipe - Finished

Butterbeer Recipe hosted by A Million More Pages on Goodreads.

A team challenge. Each team has a member from all four houses. My team was Team 1. This was quite fun with a lot of different tasks like writing reviews so others could respond and the of course I had to respond to other peoples reviews too.
I did well in this challenge as I got the maximum 9 points, unfortunately two of my team-mates missed the deadline and only got 1 point each. Luckily for me we got points individually.

February is here. It’s still cold outside. What a great time to bring a friend or sweetheart to share some good conversation and a great Butterbeer!

This challenge is a recipe challenge. Find all the ingredients to earn points. This challenge is a team of four. The twist is the teams of four people have to be from different Houses. Each team must have a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

What to do:
♡ Sign up by saying what house you are in. I’ll make a list and you’ll be teamed up with your team using a random generator.
♡ January 31, 2015 11:59 (PST) is last sign up day.
♡ Once the teams have been made, post a message by one member for your team to keep track of tasks. This will make it easier for me to see if you have completed all elements of the challenge.

Points:
♡ If you finish this challenge you earn 8 points.
♡ If you only participate (reading at least one book) and not finish the challenge you get 1 point.

Points of Interest:
♡ On February 1, I’ll be making the teams with a random generator and fill in any teams needed.
♡ Teams will be posted by February 8.
♡ On the week of February 8-14, 2015 you will be given time to plan with your team.
♡ If there are an odd number of people in a team, I will post in your common room for any players.
♡ If there are no takers when I post for more players, you may play a second game.
♡ If there is a team that needs an extra player you may play a second game but only earn 4 more points for the second game.
♡ If you play a third game you can only earn 2 points for the third game. If you play a fourth game you can only earn 1 point for the fourth game. (This means you can only play 4 times. Meaning you have the opportunity to earn up to 15 points.)
♡ I will make a reserve for the players willing to play a second game.
♡ It's up to you to keep in touch with your team. (You can PM each other, post in the forum, or even make a temporary GR group)
♡ You cannot use the same books from team to team. (This only applies if you play more than one game.)
♡ You will be reading about 3 to 4 books during this challenge.
♡ You may use YA and Children’s books. Page count for book must be at least 125. For YA and Children’s books page count must be at least 150 pages.

Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong

In the Forest of the Dead, where the empire’s worst criminals are exiled, twin sisters Moria and Ashyn are charged with a dangerous task. For they are the Keeper and the Seeker, and each year they must quiet the enraged souls of the damned.
Only this year, the souls will not be quieted.
Ambushed and separated by an ancient evil, the sisters’ journey to find each other sends them far from the only home they’ve ever known. Accompanied by a stubborn imperial guard and a dashing condemned thief, the girls cross a once-empty wasteland, now filled with reawakened monsters of legend, as they travel to warn the emperor. But a terrible secret awaits them at court—one that will alter the balance of their world forever.
From Goodreads.

Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite authors and though this is not her Women of the Otherworld series, it is a brilliant fantasy book. It has it all, a dark story, commitment, loyalty, betrayal and creatures that should not exist. I am looking forward to the next instalment, hopefully in April.

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.
From Goodreads.

Katy, the new girl in town, meets her neighbours, Daemon and Dee who turn out to be aliens. It is not safe for them or humans to be friends but of course it happens and now they have to deal with it. They must fight the evil Arum before they steal their powers and kill them all. I will definitely try to get hold of the next one from the library.

The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness’s enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches--with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency. In the trilogy’s final volume, Harkness deepens her themes of power and passion, family and caring, past deeds and their present consequences. In ancestral homes and university laboratories, using ancient knowledge and modern science, from the hills of the Auvergne to the palaces of Venice and beyond, the couple at last learn what the witches discovered so many centuries ago. From Goodreads

It has been a while since I read the second book in this series but that was not a problem, I was soon back into it.
Diana and Matthew are still looking for the missing pages of Ashmole 782 but at the same time a lot of other trouble that is all connected is mounting around them. Diana is a strong heroine that will fight with her life to ensure the safety of her family and so will Matthew. This is also necessary when an evil son of Matthew's rears his ugly self and threatens not only Diana but also their children in search of power and revenge.
This is the final book in the series but I would not mind if Deborah Harkness decided to write more as there is a lot of potential with not only Diana and Matthew but also the twins or Gallowglass.

Every Witch Way But Wicked by Amanda M. Lee

Where there's a witch, there's a way! Where there's a whole family of them, there's trouble. Bay Winchester, editor of Hemlock Cove's small weekly newspaper, thinks her small hamlet's upcoming murder mystery weekend is going to be all about fun, food and frolicking. Instead, when another dead body is discovered in Hemlock Cove, things turn into murder, mayhem and migraines (the latter is mostly thanks to her family, of course). The body belongs to the town drunk - and no one can figure out who would want to kill him, or why. Bay's investigation is stymied by her new boss, Brian Kelly, and her old flirtation, FBI agent Landon Michaels, both of whom seem to have more than interviews on their mind. When you couple that with her cousin Thistle's obsession with making their Great-Aunt Tillie pay for the curse she recently put on them (you don't want to know) and her cousin Clove's conviction that she is not - no matter what the rest of the family says - a blabbermouth, Bay has her hands full. When the murder investigation takes a turn, though, a long-held Hemlock Cove secret is bound to be exposed. If it is, Bay may find herself in trouble - again - and this is the kind of trouble that she may not be able to find a way out of - even with Aunt Tillie's help. From Goodreads.

I started this series in December and now I have decided to continue. I really like this witch family. They are all such characters by themselves and as a unit they are fun. A cosy paranormal mystery.
