Professor Trelawney's Divination Pop Quiz hosted by A Million More Pages on Goodreads.

I was teamed with Amanda and as she had also read all the books we both knew quite a lot about the characters. I guessed her character around round 10 and then it was fun having to find questions that fit the character but i think I did fairly well. This was a fun challenge.

Historical fiction is not one of my preferred genres but this was mystery mixed with romance and it was surprisingly good. Annie is a strong MC who knows a lot about the financial world of the time, but, as this is not appreciated, she has to give her advice disguised as a fortune-teller. When one of her clients dies she gets involved in finding his killer. 
I was sure I had guessed the killer about midway in the book but I was way wrong and I really like it when that happens.

The summer holidays seem never-ending and Harry Potter can't wait for the start of the school term. It is his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and there are spells to learn and (unluckily) Potions and Divination lessons to attend. But Harry needs to be on his guard at all times - his worst enemy is preparing a horrifying fate for him. From Goodreads.

Yes, I have read this book several times, but it is still great. I greatly admire J.K. Rowling for the fantasy and imagination she must have. The series is now becoming even darker and there are several killings in this one. Harry is forced to take part in the Triwizard Tournament against students much older than himself and every body including Ron hates him for it. Ron and Harry has a falling out over it but of course they are back to best friends before the end of the book and Hermione is changing from a girl to a young lady.

This was a funny book. Jane, not knowing she is a witch and without trying to, awakens her familiar. A cat turned human, Neko is quite a character and he of course loves fish and milk. Jane has some problems after making herself irresistible to men, especially the caretaker of the library is taken with her. I also like her friendship with Melissa.

This was good. All the technical stuff could easy have made this incredibly boring but it didn't and it was explained in a way so it was understandable. Mark is a very likeable character and I was rooting for him the whole book. There was so many times he nearly got himself killed but he just keep working out a solution. I want to watch the film later this year.

This wasn't as good as the first book in the series but it was still okay and funny. Again they have to fight for survival, this time not only their own but the survival of all vampires. As Reginald is the one with the brains he has to figure out how to convince the enemy that they should be allowed to survive as a species.

This was a typical dystopian book. We have two MCs, June who is part of the goverment and Day, a rebel. June finds out how corrupt the goverment is and ends up helping Day. Even though it is very predictable I will most likely continue this series at some point.

Another really good fantasy book from Brandon Sanderson. I liked David who has worked hard the last 10 years to learn all he could about the Epics. Also, the way he had studied to remain an average student in order to avoid being noticed. The Reckoners who fight and kill the Epics are quite interesting and I liked the twists and surprises at the end of the story. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I enjoyed this one. It was lovely to see the 3 women connect after not having seen each other for 10 years or so. Daphne thinks her friends lives perfect lives and especially Skylar who has the career Daphne always wanted. On this holiday she finds out that nothing is perfect and she can do something herself to reach her goals even if they are not quite the same as when she left University.

This was a fun, quick read. Frankie loves her Uncle Joe and will do everything to help him as he was there when she grew up and helped her every time her dad let her down. In the end she has to decide if she will marry to get the secure life she has always dreamt about or follow her heart.

This was okay and it was fun listening to it. As usual in cosy mysteries the MC does a lot of stuff that is really stupid and nearly dies. I also guessed the killer around midway through the book. But it was enough fun that I will continue the series and I will continue it as audio.

This was very cute story about a woman and her daughter just moved to a town and then something happens that turns them into witches. Kimberly of course has difficulties believing she is a witch but when she does everything ties up a little too neatly, but it was still cute and cosy.

This book was okay. Ever since her mum disappeared Julia has been able to feel everybody else's emotions. Julia is young and naive and falls in love with Nicholas a bit too easily. I might continue this series at some point.

This was okay but no more than that. It was interesting to follow Mitch Taylor as he first encountered the Alien enemy on the moon, then the Atlantic Ocean and lastly in France. It is of course full of war scenes and basically millions of humans are killed. This is not enough to continue this series. I would instead recommend the Old Man's War series by John Scalzi which has a lot more going on than just war.

The Flower Hunter's Cottage by De-ann Black

Mairead is a botanical artist, gardener and quilter. She leases the flower hunter's cottage in the Scottish Highlands. She plans to get away from the city and finish the floral artwork for her new book along with her quilt designs.
As part of the lease agreement she has to take care of the traditional cottage garden while the owner, the flower hunter, is away working abroad, searching for a new species of flower.
Mairead arrives at the cottage in January. After settling in, she meets handsome flower grower, Tavion, and Ethel a knitter who spins and dyes her own yarn. While making new friends, Mairead is keen to get on with her artwork and quilting - and get the garden ready for the spring and summer. I enjoy these short, light romances set in Scotland. Nothing bad happens in them and they are just cosy easy reads.

I don't usually read non-fiction but I needed it for a challenge. The topic was interesting as I visited Cheshire Falconry a few years ago. It was a very different book to what I expected. Yes. it is about Helen Macdonald training a goshawk but it turned out also to be about her depression after her father's death and a biography of T.H. White. I found a lot of the stuff about T.H. White a bit irrelevant but I can see that it fit her mental state at the time. I liked Mabel, the goshawk, a magnificent predator.

Another cosy mystery that is based on cakes, it seems I have a thing for them at the moment even though they are not that great. Again this was nothing special and there was a couple of points that were a bit too stupid. But it was a very short read and it was okay

I have to admit that my own secrets are pretty open. My marriage failed some years ago, and I have a rather…difficult relationship with my daughter, Justine. Then there's my mother, Charlotte, who has plenty of opinions and is always willing to share them.
Here's an example. I'm a family court judge and she likes to drop in on my courtroom. Recently I was hearing a divorce petition. In my mother's view, young Cecilia and Ian Randall hadn't tried hard enough to make their marriage work and I actually agreed. So I rendered my judgment: Divorce Denied.
Well, you wouldn't believe the reaction! Thanks to an article by Jack Griffin, the editor of our local paper (and a man I wouldn't mind seeing more of ), everyone's talking.
Cedar Cove people love it and sometimes they leave it, but they never forget it!

My favourite genres are fantasy and paranormal but I have also come to enjoy this kind of women's fiction. Just every day stuff going on in a small community. This is the first book in the series so there are a lot of characters to figure out and it did take me a wee bit of time before I got them right. There are a lot of loose ends when the book finishes but that is okay and I am looking forward to continue this series. I also liked that not everything had a happy ending as that is a part of life.

This was okay but no more. It was very clear early on who the killer was all we needed to find out was why. It was cosy and it was full of donut recipes that I most likely will never try.
