I really like this series about Kate Daniels. She is a strong woman and even though she on many points is weak compared to the shape-shifters, she has so much power because of her heritage. Because of the ending of this book I am already looking forward to next book in this series. No, it is not a cliffhanger it just seems to change direction.

Actually the one I am about to start. Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews. I have wanted to read it since it was published in July.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
I have not had any interruptions but then I am at home with my husband and my twin-sister and they are also both taking part.

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
As this is my seventh Read-a-Thon, nothing has surprised me so far.

Most of these stories were okay. The first story is about Cindy's first date and then there are short stories about her sisters and friends.
I hope Elizabeth Reeves will write more full length books about Cindy and her family.

In some way it is sad it is finished but after 13 books it is okay and this book was a good finale. As usual Rachel had to save the world, the Everafter and Ivy's soul.
I have enjoyed all thirteen books in this series and now they are finished I might have to look into Kim Harrison's other series.
This series should be read in order as every book in one way or another is a continuation of the book before.

It has just passed 8pm in my time-zone, this means we are 1/4 of the way through Dewey's Read-a-Thon.

As usual I am enjoying a good excuse just to be reading.

Witch Central goes to Costa Rica for summer vacation. From Goodreads.

Yes, it is a very short blurb that comes with this 50 pages novella but it is also only a book for people who have read "A Modern Witch" and "Witch Central" series by Debora Geary. It is, as all her books from these two series, a cute story with some sadness involved.
If she doesn't change her mind at a later date this will be the last story from Debory Geary's world of witches.
I have enjoyed all the books from this world and I am going to miss reading more about her characters.

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I am reading from Rousthøje, a small village in Denmark. Joined by my husband and twin-sister.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? The Witch with no Name by Kim Harrison and Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? My sister has again prepared dinner for us, which is great. Then we also have enough sweets to be on a sugar high the whole 24 hours.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I go on canoeing trips and love bringing my kindle. I also go for walks which is the only time I listen to audiobooks.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? This is my seventh RaT and I have found out I need to read books from my favourite genres of paranormal and fantasy to stay awake.

The Sorceress by Michael Scott

Another enjoyable book in this series. Nicholas Flamel has brought Sophie and Josh from Paris to London but they are of course still followed by John Dee and the Dark Elders.
Like they met Joan of Arc in Paris, it is Shakespeare they meet in London. I like the way famous people and mythological creatures are a part of this story.
There are another 3 books in this series and I have just ordered the next book from the library.

Dewey's Read-a-Thon October 2014 is only 4 days away and I thought I would be prepared a bit earlier this time as I usually don't have my list of books ready till the day before. This will be my seventh time taking part.

Well, I am ready and my goal is to stay awake the entire 24 hours and hopefully read more than 1000 pages.

When I make a list for RaT's it is not a list set in stone as I might suddenly get ideas from what other participants are reading or just simply be in the mood for something totally different from what is on my list.

I have really enjoyed listening to His Dark Materials. I am still not completely taken with audio books but this series where Philip Pullman has read the books and a full cast have read the characters has just been absolutely brilliant. These books must be read in order.

Romance Readers Reading Challenges: 2014 Chubby Chunkster Challenge - Finished

2014 Chubby Chunkster Challenge hosted by Romance Readers Reading Challenges on Goodreads.

I have now finished this challenge and my goal was to read: Mor-book-ly Obese - This is for the truly out of control chunkster. For this level of challenge you must commit to 8 chunksters OR 3 tomes of 800 pages or more.

I completed this goal twice. I have read 16 books for this challenge.

Duration:January 1, 2014 - December 31, 2014

They're large. They're in charge. And they're calling your name. They are the big mommas of your TBR, the mountain more than the molehill - these busty babies have been waiting for you to crack them open and take a nice, long perusal of their contents. If you've been waiting and delaying your chunkster reading, this challenge is for you!

1. Definition of a Chunkster:

- A chunkster is 450 pages or more of fiction or nonfiction. A chunkster should be a challenge.
- If you read large type books your book will need to be 525 pages or more... The average large type book is 10-15% longer or more so I think that was a fair estimate.

[NOTE: if you read e-books, check the hardcover/paperback page count here on GR, it will give you the idea if the book counts]

If the book is ebook-only with NO PRINT EQUIVALENT. then the following rules apply:

1. For the ebook-only book, please check Amazon for its estimated page count. Usually underneath the description, there is a drop-down button (online-stores) for Get a copy. Select Amazon from that and it will lead you to the version on Amazon. Check the estimated page number there.

2. If no Amazon page count exists, THEN you can use GR page count and add 50 pages due to its unreliable reputation.

3. If no Amazon page count and GR page count exists, then the book cannot be used for this challenge.

Please ask any questions if you have any doubts. You can also post the book title in this thread if you have any trouble and I'll check for you.

2. The Rules:

- Audiobooks count.
- Re-reads are fine, as long as you don't skim or skip sections.
- Short Stories and Essay collections will not be counted.
- Books may crossover with other challenges.
- You can join in anytime, but you have till the end of the year to read it all.
- You don't need to list your books ahead of time.
- Once you pick a level, that's it...you're committed to that level!
- When you post your updates, put page count by each chunkster.
- If you completed a level before the end of the year and you want to sign up again, you're more than welcome to do so.

3. You must pick a level of participation:

- The Chubby Chunkster - this option is for the reader who has a couple of large tomes on their TBR list, but really doesn't want to commit to much more than that. Three books is all you need to finish this challenge.
- Do These Books Make my Butt Look Big? - This option is for the slightly heavier reader who wants to commit to 5 Chunksters over the remainder of the year.
- Mor-book-ly Obese - This is for the truly out of control chunkster. For this level of challenge you must commit to 8 chunksters OR 3 tomes of 800 pages or more. You know you want to.....go on and give in to your cravings.
- Too Big To Ignore Anymore - this option is for those chunksters on your TBR list. You may select any number of books over 450 pages but you must LIST THEM ahead of time.
